Editorial policy

Mission

NursingAtoms publishes information of practical value to nurses across India — clinical updates, education and CNE, careers, health policy, and cross-system evidence (Allopathy, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Yoga). We exist to make the best nursing-relevant information legible, citable, and trustworthy.

Sourcing standards

We cite primary sources in this order of preference:

1. World Health Organization (WHO)
2. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)
3. Indian Nursing Council (INC)
4. National Medical Commission (NMC)
5. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)
6. National Center for Biotechnology Information / PubMed
7. National Institutes of Health (NIH), CDC, NHS, NICE, FDA
8. NABH for hospital quality; ABDM for digital health

We do not publish content that relies solely on a single commercial source, a single anonymous expert, or AI generation without human review.

Author and reviewer requirements

• Authors must hold a relevant nursing or medical credential (BSc / GNM / MSc / NP / MD / PhD or equivalent recognized by an Indian or international regulatory body).
• Medical reviewers are named separately on clinical pieces, hold an MD/MBBS or equivalent, and have published or practiced in the topic area.
• Editors are responsible for tone, structure, accuracy of citations, and adherence to this policy.
• All three roles are named on the page they contribute to; no anonymous bylines on clinical content.

Conflict of interest

Authors must declare financial or non-financial interests relevant to the content. The declaration appears on the page itself (see the COI block). When in doubt, declare.

Use of AI

We use AI tools as research and drafting assistants, never as the final author of clinical content. Every AI-assisted piece passes through a human author and a human medical reviewer before publication. See our AI disclosure for the specific tools and stages where AI is involved.

Update cadence

Clinical and reference pages are reviewed at least quarterly. Pages older than 90 days display a “Review pending” badge; pages older than 180 days are flagged “Review overdue” and prioritized for our editorial queue. News and event listings are timestamped at publication and updated when underlying facts change.

Corrections

We maintain a public corrections log. Significant errors are corrected in the article and recorded in the log with the original and corrected text and the date. Minor typographical fixes are made silently.

What we do not publish

• Promotional claims for specific drugs, hospitals, or practitioners without disclosed sponsorship (and we currently do not accept sponsored content).
• Outcome guarantees (e.g., “90% success rate”) without primary-source citations.
• Patient-identifying content. See our DPDP notice and PHI guidance for contributors.
• Content that contradicts current Indian Nursing Council or National Medical Commission scope-of-practice guidance.
